It’s been a year of firsts for us, and our latest is that we are finalists in two awards for our launch of m4d Radio.
- Dementia Care Awards – Outstanding Arts & Creativity in Dementia Care
- Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards – Dementia Care Award
Outstanding Arts & Creativity in Dementia Care
The Dementia Care Awards, organised by the Journal of Dementia Care, were created to recognise the best work in the sector. This is their 11th year and we are one of five finalists in our category.
To be shortlisted we had to demonstrate that we had developed and delivered an outstanding creative arts project, in any setting, to improve the quality of lives of people living with dementia.
The original written entry was supplemented by a video for the judges to come to their decision. We will find out the winners at a virtual Gala Evening and Awards ceremony on 12th November.
Dementia Care Award
These awards are designed to reward hard work, dedication, innovation and excellence in the not-for-profit sector. Run by Care Management Matters, and developed in conjunction with the National Care Forum, they celebrate making a positive difference in supporting children and adults in a large number of categories from leadership to community engagement, technology to collaboration.
The Dementia Care Award is for endeavours focused on improving the lives of people and families of those living with dementia – whether they have just been diagnosed or are coming to the end of their life. We share the shortlist spotlight with three other very worthy finalists.
Our written submission showed how we included people with dementia, their carers and communities in developing local services. A challenging interview followed, where Grace Meadows answered some fantastic, searching questions about m4d Radio and the Music for Dementia Campaign.
The award date has not yet been set, but the plan is to hold it in person in early 2021.
