Tony Christie drives the message home – “Give music a go!”
Singer Tony Christie has helped Music for Dementia launch the ‘Give It A Go’ campaign. Tony, 81, who lives with dementia, is pictured here alongside a mobile AdVan featuring our latest poster artwork. The striking posters are being shown on digital screens around the UK so keep a look out for their bright colours and simple message.
Tony also features in our new campaign film, which you can watch here. He stars alongside four other families who were filmed at their home talking about how music helps them manage dementia symptoms and how music brings moments of joy into their lives. If you haven’t seen the film yet, do take a moment to watch it as it’s a beautifully made film that will move you.
Music for Dementia recognises that looking after someone that is living with dementia can be desperately hard, and while music may not be a magic wand, it can be enough to turn the day around for carers. Our ‘Give It A Go’ campaign encourages everybody, regardless of musical ability, to ‘give it a go’ and see if it helps.
Christie says: “You don’t have to be a professional singer or musician to belt out a football anthem or hum the theme tune to Eastenders – it’s whatever works for you.”
